He’s becoming a bit of a familiar face at our national finals is Rodney, and he managed to win the Canterbury qualifier by half a set on countback. Here’s how our local committee member Nic Andrew put it:

The Canterbury Super Singles qualifier was played today at Allenton Bowling Club.
The frost delayed the start of play by a hour and a half but with a frost comes a beautiful day & that was what we got a cracker day.

We had 21 people from all over Canterbury come play, all games were played in great spirits & banter which made for a great atmosphere.

We had 4 with 5 Wins out of 6 games which is amazing and 3rd place was decided by points as both had 5 wins and 8 sets which is great.

Congratulations to everyone for coming along a shout out to Robyn King who came in at the last minute as a replacement and went so close to winning the whole day just getting pipped for 3rd for a 2nd year bowler you played amazing I look forward to watching your progress through the years.
Congratulations to the below winners for getting places and good luck to Rodney Downes in the NZ finals in July.

3rd Seddon Jury-Jane 5 wins 8 sets & 89 Points & 43 ends (left)
